Funfetti Biscuits with Whipped Butter, Sprinkles & Flaky Salt
Ingredients:
For the biscuits:
3 cups flour (425 grams)
3 tbsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup sprinkles
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, frozen (170 grams)
1 1/4 cup buttermilk (285 ml)
Milk for brushing
For topping:
1 stick butter, softened
2 tbsp powdered sugar, sieved
Flaky salt mixed with sprinkles for topping
Instructions:
Place the butter into the freezer.
Heat your oven to 425°F/220°C.
Sieve the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Add the sprinkles to the dry ingredients and combine.
Grate the butter into the flour mixture and lightly toss the butter and flour together. Don’t fully combine the two; just make sure the butter is coated in flour.
Add in the buttermilk and mix using a butter knife, shaking the bowl simultaneously. Once the ingredients begin to come together, turn the dough onto a clean countertop and finish bringing the dough together.
Press out into a 9x12 rectangle, and slice into 12 squares. Place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment.
Brush the biscuits with milk and place them into the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the biscuits from the oven and while they cool whip the butter and sugar together until the butter begins to turn from a yellow to white color.
Top the biscuits with the whipped butter, and sprinkled mixed with flaky salt.
